The Worcester Area Senior Companion Program is an arm of the National Senior Service Corps administered and funded federally through the Corporation for National and Community Service. Locally the program is sponsored by Seven Hills Foundation & Affiliates ESWA is one of sixteen local agencies assigned Senior Companion volunteers who in turn are assigned to visit some of ESWA’s most isolated individuals.
Senior Companions are volunteers age 55 and older who provide individualized care and assistance to frail, isolated, elders in the community. Senior Companions assigned to ESWA may accompany their assigned clients to medical appointments or to lunch at a Dining Center (via public transportation or taxi.) They may go for walks, play games, engage in hobbies or run small errands together. Other time spent might include reading, reminiscing or just visiting.
