Elder Services of Worcester Area provides a variety of services regulated by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs.

All services provided to elders under the state home care program are done so through formal contracts between the provider agencies and Elder Services of Worcester.

Homemaker - Assistance with light housekeeping, dish washing, vacuuming, kitchen and bathroom cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, and meal preparation by trained homemakers.

Personal Care - Activities performed by specially trained homemakers to assist the client with daily hygiene and grooming needs. This service must be first approved by an Elder Services nurse.

Home Delivered Meals - Nutritionally balanced meals are delivered by drivers who also provide frail and isolated elders with a welcome link to the outside word.

Home Health Services - Medically required, trained assistance such as short term nursing care and home health aides.

Chore - Assistance with heavy household tasks from trained workers.

Adaptive Housing - Funding for minor changes or modifications in a home to correct hazards and provide a safe environment for frail elders.

Personal Emergency Response System - A medical alert system that allows elders in medical emergencies to summon assistance.

Respite Companions - Trained volunteers visit frail elders on a regular basis, providing caregivers with a much needed break in their routine, and some time to themselves.

Senior Companions - Trained companions who visit frail, isolated and homebound elders. They offer friendship and assistance with shopping or errands.

Social Day Program - A program of individual and group activities in a supervised setting for elders who need socialization during the day.

Adult Day Health - A program providing supervision and assistance with medication, personal care and health care, along with socialization through organized, group activities in a setting outside the home.

Transportation - Contracts with taxi companies provide elders with transportation to medical appointments.

Supportive Home Care Aide - Service provides basic homemaking and personal care tasks for elders who may have personal issues, which make service delivery challenging.

Short Term Respite Beds - Short stays at selected Assisted Living Facility for Respite elders whose 24 hour caregivers are unavailable.

Medication Dispensing System - An automated dispenser that allows an elder to receive medication at appropriate intervals.

Vision Rehabilitation - A service designed to instruct people who are visually impaired in the use of skills and aids that will enable them to live safely, productively, independently and up to their maximum potential.

Safe Return - A program administered through the Alzheimer’s Association, which registers a person with dementia. If that person wanders, identifying information is forwarded to police and community health agencies.
